Remembrance Day at Buchanan

Today we held our Remembrance Day service at 11:00am.

We used the book What Peace Feels Like to inspire student projects.

We began with Sgt. Laflamme leading us in the singing of O Canada.

Next we watched The Poppy Story to learn about why we wear poppies on Remembrance Day.

Then Sgt. Laflamme read the poem In Flanders Fields.

Mrs. Marshall's Kindergarten class presented their class book on Peace.

Next the Grade 2/3 & 4/5 Choirs sang There Will Be Peace.

Room 13 shared their project, What Peace Feels Like.

We ended the service with the Last Post, A Moment of Silence, and the Reveille.

Recorder Madness!

Today is a big day for Grade 4 students at Buchanan! They are beginning to play the recorder! Because Grade 5 students have already been playing for 1 year, they are proving to be excellent teachers! Each Grade 5 student has been paired up with a Grade 4 student and has taught them the following:

1. How to hold the recorder
2. How to blow gently
3. How to play B, A and G
4. How to play Hot Cross Buns

They did a great job!
